Decanting Process

Decanting Process

At Fume & Flora, every sample and decant begins with an authentic bottle produced by the original fragrance house, handled with the utmost of care.

We curate those fragrances by mood and experience and make that fragrance available in smaller formats, so you can lean into a specific feeling for a little while.

Step 1: Original Fragrance

Every fragrance we decant comes from a genuine manufacturer bottle sourced through authorized distributors, fragrance houses, or trusted retailers.

Step 2: Careful Transfer

Fragrances are transferred by hand into new glass atomizers designed specifically for perfume.

This process is done in a controlled environment using tools intended for fragrance transfer to minimize air exposure and protect the integrity of the scent.

Because each sample is prepared manually, small variations in fill height may occur — but every vial contains the intended volume of fragrance.

Step 3: Proper Storage

Perfume is sensitive to heat, light, and air.

To protect the fragrance, our bottles are stored in cool, stable conditions away from direct light and opened only when preparing decants.

This helps ensure the scent you receive reflects the fragrance as it was intended to smell.

Step 4: Ready to Explore

Your sample or decant is then labeled, packaged carefully, and sent on its way.

The goal is simple: to make it easier to explore fragrance widely, discover new favorites, and build your own scent story without buying every bottle blind.

A Note on Variations

Because fragrances are complex compositions, small differences in scent perception may occur due to skin chemistry, storage conditions, or temperature changes during shipping.

This is a normal part of perfumery — and part of the adventure of discovering how a fragrance behaves on you.
